Master of Psychology in Christian Counselling.   [M.Psych.C.C.]        165 Credits.

Design:

          The Master of Psychology in Christian Counselling course is designed for those involved in pastoral counselling within the framework of the Christian Church. It prepares the student to respond to a wide range of issues encountered in the local church and Christian community.

Course Subjects:

BC 3000: Principles of Counselling.
BC 3005: Theology of Counselling.
BC 3010: Psychological and Theological Integration.
BC 3015: Lay Counselling.
BC 3020: Counselling Ethics.
BC 3025: Counselling: Sexual Abuse.
BC 3030: Counselling: Understanding People.
BC 3035: Scripture in Counselling.
BC 3040: Psycho heresy.
BC 3099: Thesis.

Essays: Two mid-semester essays each 3,000 words.

Counselling Sessions: Five Christian Care/Counselling Sessions [each five pages in length.].

Degree Prerequisites:

          A Bachelors degree from an approved university, seminary or Bible College [including prior-learning experience] plus 45 credit hours. Forty-five [45] hours of coursework must be completed at 'Seekers International Seminary,' before the degree is granted. Nine, two hour courses, two essays and counselling sessions constitute 30 hours plus 15 credits for the thesis. A Master's thesis of 8,000 words is required. The subject matter for the essays, counselling sessions and thesis proposal may be determined by the student in consultation with the student's Assigned Tutor. The counselling sessions may be actual counselling situations or talking to a hospital patient, nursing home resident, or other ministry setting. All completed work must be either emailed or sent through a secure mailing system to the student's Assigned Tutor. Coursework submitted to 'Seekers' should always be accompanied by a self-addressed envelope for the marked and graded assignments to be returned.

Course of Study:

           From the list below, students may choose nine [9] textbooks for study. Each textbook constitutes two hours of credit or one course module. A 3.0 GPA is required on a scale of 4.0. Students may order the textbooks through Amazon.com or their local bookshops.

Course Textbooks:

          A summary paper on each of the books chosen [9] is required and should incolude the following:.

          All assignments should be double-spaced. Detailed instructions for writing the Master's Thesis will be forwarded to the student when the thesis subject has been considered and accepted by Seekers International.

          Tuition is kept to a minimum to offset the purchase of textbooks.
