Academics: Degree Synopsis

Master of Ministry          [M.Min.]                    165 Credits.

Design:

          The Master of Ministry Course offers a well-rounded, in-ministry course for pastors, counsellors and other ministry orientated workers. The course places the emphasis on leadership, administration and pastoral skills. The students are challenged to realise their full potential as leaders.

Course Subjects:

MIN 3000: Preaching and Worship.
MIN 3005: Management and Administration.
MIN 3010: Outreach and Care.
MIN 3015: Beginning a New Pastorate.
MIN 3020: Pastoral Ministry Issues.
MIN 3025: Ethical Issues in Ministry.
MIN 3030: Youth and Student Ministry.
MIN 3035: Ministry Team.
MIN 3040: Ministry Vision.
MIN 3099: Thesis.

Essays: Three mid-semester essays each 2,000 words.

 Degree Prerequisites:

          A Bachelor's degree from an approved university, seminary, or Bible College [including prior-learning experience] plus 45 credit hours. Forty-five [45] hours of coursework must be completed at 'Seekers International Seminary,' before the degree is granted. Nine [9] two hour courses, and three essays constitute 30 hours plus 15 credits for the thesis. A Master's thesis of 8,000 words is required. The subject matter for the essays and the thesis proposal may be determined by the student in consultation with student's Assigned Tutor. All completed coursework must be either emailed or sent through a secure mailing system to the student's Assigned Tutor. Coursework submitted to 'Seekers' should always be accompanied by a self-addressed envelope for the marked and graded assignments to be returned.

Course of Study:

          From the list below, the student may choose nine [9] textbooks for study. Each textbook constitutes two hours of credit or one module. A 3.0 GPA is required on a scale of 4.0.  Students may order textbooks through Amazon.com or their local bookshop.

Course Textbooks:

A summary paper on each of the 9 chosen textbooks is required and should include the following:

  • Give a brief overview of the book in 3 to 5 pages.
  • At least, one chapter of the book should be summarised explaining why the chapter was meaningful to the student.
  • Will the book be useful to the student in his/ her future ministry? If so, why?
  • What did the student percieve to be the strength of the book?

 All assignments should be double-spaced and demonstrate that the student has read the required material.

Tuition is kept to a minimum to offset the purchase of textbooks.
